Why Is Focusing Only on Revenue Considered Shallow?

A revenue-only focus neglects customers and users, who are the real source of profit. Unless customer needs and satisfaction are addressed, teams may resort to aggressive feature delivery that is disconnected from real value.z

Metaphor

Focusing only on revenue is like judging a restaurant’s success by the cash register alone. Sure, the till might be full tonight, but if the food is bland and customers leave unhappy, those sales won’t last.

In product work, chasing revenue without caring for users leads to short-term gains but starves long-term sustainability.
