Who Is Accountable for the Product Backlog?

The Product Owner is accountable for managing the Product Backlog. They may delegate work but ultimately decide what gets pursued and when.

Metaphor

The Product Owner is like a head chef in a busy kitchen: sous-chefs can chop, stir, and prep, but the chef decides what dishes go on the menu and when they’re served. Accountability sits with the one setting direction, even if the work is delegated.

Likewise, the Product Owner owns the Product Backlog, ensuring it reflects the right priorities no matter who helps with the details.
