Why Might Teams Perceive Delegation as Shirking or Silence as Unresponsiveness?
Intent and impact diverge when you’re not tracking how behavior lands with others. Without feedback, helpful actions are reinterpreted as avoidance or neglect.
Metaphor
Delegating can feel like passing the buck, much like handing off a group project task and then disappearing. The common thread is that the absence of visible follow-through makes others question whether you’re engaged at all.
Leaders need feedback loops so their intent to empower is understood as support, not abandonment.
