Why Is Feedback from All Directions Crucial?
A comprehensive picture of strengths and weaknesses comes from peers, reports, bosses, and even family members. Without it, blind spots persist, and leaders overestimate their effectiveness.
Metaphor
Getting feedback from all directions is like checking your reflection in a handheld mirror versus a full-length mirror. In the limited view, you only see the flattering angles, but in the full mirror, you also catch the slouch, the stain, and the awkward stance.
Leaders need the panoramic view from peers, reports, bosses, and even family, so they can correct blind spots instead of coasting on a partial image of effectiveness.
