How Can an Excessive Need to Be “Me” Derail Client Relationships?

Over-selling yourself while failing to inquire about the other party’s goals reads as ego, not expertise. Even a stellar track record can’t compensate for ignoring what’s on the client’s mind.

Metaphor

Treating client conversations like a personal talent show is like blasting your karaoke skills on repeat at a dinner party. The spotlight hog gets attention, but the guests feel unseen and eventually tune out.

In the same way, flaunting credentials without listening to client goals erodes trust and turns potential partnerships into missed opportunities.
